clean slate

How great is this wallpaper? Once it's up, you or your child, or your entire family, can create art for the frames. I love the idea of painting or drawing directly on the wallpaper, but I'm sure you could also tape or glue onto the wallpaper if you weren't sure you wanted it to be so permanent. It could be a fun way to showcase children's school work. Or an fun alternative to a bulletin board in an office or studio.

It sort of reminds me of this Sharpie-decorated basement that you may already have seen. I seem to recall also seeing some clever Sharpie-decorated kitchen cabinets someplace recently.

I think that, personally, I'd feel more confident of my own drawing abilities than my ability to hang wall paper, so I'd probably be inclined to draw frames directly on the wall than to purchase the wallpaper. (But then, I've never wallpapered while I've certainly drawn on walls.)

You can purchase the wallpaper here. What would you do with it?

  1. This wallpaper is really cool! I have never seen anything like it. I think we would draw portraits of our pets and other animals we see in our backyard. And flowers and pictures of each other would be fun too.

  3. That wallpaper is so cool! I'm too much of a wimp to put it up on my walls, but what a great idea for some sort of public building or art center.

Think of what real art students at RISD or MassART could do with it!

  4. Wow! That is absolutely going up in our childrens' rooms. It could become a fun parent-child nightly activity, you know? When I was a kid, my mom would put me to bed some nights by reading a book or two. My dad would spin my globe and tell me about the people in China or Ghana or Uruguay. When I have kids, it'll be a nightly collaborative fill-in-a-frame project. Cool!

  5. Hey Liesl,
I LOVE mine. My hubby and I put it up a long time ago. [Our marriage remained intact even though we had "moments" since we did it ourselves! ;)] Check it out here:

  6. This is a question about your last post. What is the color you have on your daughter's walls? I LOVE that yellow! Yellow is such a difficult color to pick just right and you did it! my blog is: www.the-savage-family.blogspot.com if you have time to tell me the color! Thanks!

  8. Jennifer, I just checked my records and am afraid I don't have a swatch of that yellow paint. I could tell you almost every other color in the apartment, but the bedroom has been that color for so many years I no longer have a record of it. It's due for a new coat, however, and when I find a good color I'll let you know. Cheers!

  9. Wow, what a fun idea - that wallpaper is great! And I love the hexagon project but don't really know what you should do with them. I have the exact same conundrum myself. They are really addicting to make...
