I've said before that I'm not really interested in making Halloween costumes, and so far S has really let me off easy in terms of her costume requirements. I'm pleased to report that she's still making it simple and sketched the following costume design the other day:
No elaborate suits or fantastical structures to be constructed, hooray! Just a simple black knit Hopscotch Dress, black tail, and black cat ears on a headband. I can do that.
The most challenging part will be finding the right black lace for the hem that she's clearly communicated is a crucial element of the costume. I love that she's thinking about the little details like that, and about what color her nose should be: black or pink?
That detail still needs to be decided.
Nose = definitely pink.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteit was so fun to meet you (and her!) this weekend. thanks for being a great resource and wonderful inspiration.
My daughter is also a black cat this year. I started out being thrilled to do more elaborate costumes since I wasn't really sewing clothes, but now that I am sewing most of my clothes and many of my daughters I have to say I am with you, the simpler the better. This year it will be a black cat and the my son will be death.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the kitty.

My daughter just said, "That looks like a really cute dress. Can you make that for me?"
ReplyDeleteI think that means I'm going to have to make a Halloween costume now.
I find it amusing that my daughter and your daughter chose to be the same black cat. I tried to talk my daughter into a little color and she she was against it. And for once I was actually excited about making a costume for her this year. Maybe next year...
