Caution: girl at work

Hard at work on a fun project over here. I'm designing a bag and pattern to use for teaching an advanced-level sewing class at Purl. We picked out these two Etsuko Furuya fabrics for the sample, and I'm really excited to start sewing them. (Still feeling that olive love, obviously.)

On a completely unrelated note, I've been wanting to keep track of the books I read, since the New York Public Library doesn't keep records (something about the Freedom of Information Act, I believe). One of my sisters uses bibliophil.org to track and record her own reading. (Although I still wish she would have kept blogging. Subtle hint. Ahem.) I've joined now as well. Follow along with me if you wish. And I'm always looking for suggestions, by the way.

This is a really great idea. Thanks for the link. You know I could spend hours on Amazon or Powells looking up books I like, then following the trail of "customers who bought this also bought..." I compile my library waiting list like this.

  4. Teaching at Purl, that sounds just amazing to me. I have not been there since the fabric expansion, but I have visited the website. It seems like it would be a fabric candy store. Trouble and temptation! I will have to visit next time I am in NY - I do need to try and see the Radical Lace show.

Wow! Thanks, Liesl. I have a simple notebook where I write in all the books (a lot less now that I have little ones -- although once the youngest kiddo hits school in March, I might be able to read some more) I have read. But I really like your idea.

I'm a pretty big fan of LibraryThing for logging books. I have a stack waiting to be added, actually. :)

  9. I just finished reading the Painted Veil--written in 1925, it was a lovely period novel. I kept thinking that it didn't seem to have been writtten that long ago. It's about cholera in china, and it's a love story. It was a pretty quick read, too.

I am sitting on a piece of that very Etsuko Furuya fabric for months now... never dared to cut... it's gorgeous.

  11. I would suggest LibraryThing over Bibliophil, too. It seems a lot more your crisp, clean style.
